Since PlanetPlanet aggregation for open source projects worked so well, why hasn't someone considered to do the same for the life casting sites? (Twitter and such...).

mysqllife.org? Peel the meme's tagged as MySQL off from twitter and put them in a stream to watch?

what I really want is a huge aggregator for a list of feeds, but allow folks to pick and choose which feeds they want to read and which they don't. . . also allowing things like "show me a random feed" and such, so they can get more that are already on the list if they find they don't have enough content.

it's what I want to put on planetknitting.com, because otherwise there's way too much knitting blogging going on to have one aggregate with everything.

Such thing already exists. Search for: Pulse of Ubuntu; Pulse of Open Source; Pulse of PDX.. etc.

For some reason they're calling it 'pulse'.
