But I do not want a human...

You see, I do not want a human.

At the moment I am standing in line at the airport. The kiosks are down and their is no sign of them being fixed.

Thinking about waste, how much of it is being generated per year thanks to the 3oz band? I see piles of stuff now left at the gates, but that is only the start to this nightmare. Now instead of just taking a normal sized container of toothpaste, we carry these tiny "one trip per use" containers.

I wonder what the "small tube" revenue is? What is the overall cost per usage / container?

I wonder whether half full regular sizes are acceptable and if it's acceptable to squirt the excess toothpaste into the disposal bin.

yeah, it's nuts. I tend to check a bag with all my pastes & liquids in it, and carry on tiny amounts of stuff, just enough for the travel day... so I can bring food, since they're not going to provide anything decently edible in most cases (unless you're travelling over an ocean...)

... and I have little reusable and cleanable plastic containers, and I just squirt a little toothpaste into one for the carryon.

though... I suppose you're one of those people who manages to pack enough gear for a whole trip into one carryon, aren't you? :-P

I never check luggage :)

I carry enough climber bars to get me through the average trip... to me they are instant food :)

Hmmm not a bad idea for the toothpaste... but I am wondering if they would be more likely to hassle me for the unmarked tube.
