I can leave my house at 6:20 and make a 7:20 flight with 20 minutes to spare....

Two hours? I am supposed to be here two hours before?

Yeah right.

I just flew this weekend, they like to board 30mins before departure--but if you can make it through security, yah you only need about 45mins probably before depart

*Snort.* I empathize. The other week, ihgreenman's flight from San Diego was 2 hours late and they STILL wanted him there 2 hours before the *scheduled* flight time.

Just what one wants to do with the evening...spend four hours sitting in an airport.

And he missed the flight from Seattle because he got there 29 minutes before departure and they closed it down at 30 minutes before.

Flying ain't what it used to be, back before I hated it.

TSA timing

At Oakland I can get through the counter in 5 minutes, almost always under 10, and I can get to the gate from the counter in under 10 minutes. So even allow for being on the plane 20 minutes before scheduled takeoff, and a 10-minute ride to the airport, that means leave home about an hour before scheduled takeoff.

The only problem is that the TSA line is 10-50 minutes, so that means an extra 40 minutes in the gate area when it's running fast.
