How Not to Get My Help

« previous entry | next entry »

Want to make sure you never get help with an open source project I write?

Send me, unsolicited, a Microsoft Word document and ask me to fill in the questions you have written.

Especially when you are a consultant making money off what I write and not offering anything to me up front.

Seriously, this has to be the worst possible way to get my attention.

i don't know... they got mentioned in your highly-regarded blog.

Oh... except you didn't mention them by name/company.

And you basically called the person an idiot. (And hey... you'd think anyone in the business would know better than to send unsolicited attachments in this day and age... although you are safer on a Mac than us MS OS peoples.)

But any attention in a storm... :D
