India Thus Far

The culture is really alien compared to most of where I travel... this is one of the few place I go where I can say "there ain't much American influence".

The music is awesome :)

Food is awesome :)

The annoying guy who kept trying to carry my bag... not so awesome. No tip either.

The morning had worse humidity then the afternoon. Dinner tonight at this outdoor restaurant was quite nice. I doubt seriously many of the hookah around me where filled with tobacco :)

(Thankfully no one my area was smoking the damn things).

The poverty is pretty stark. Driving is crazy... no such things as a "right" side of the road.

Language wise it is all over the board. Lots of english, lots of what I believe is the local Hindi.

Wifi? Not common. Cell phones? Everywhere.

Smog is awful.

Did I mention the food is really good? :)

It the food similar to what one usually gets in Indian restaurants in Europe? I've heard that it's not.

A bit different then Europe, but pretty much dead on what we have in the US. Though it is being eaten properly with Naan here :)

(I learned to eat Indian food from Indians so I tend to be a snob about eating it with bread).

I've recognized everything I have eaten so far.

Poor fellows, they have 20+ local versions of Hindi. What is about the smell? I've heard it is quite unpleasant at places. BTW, what part of India was it?

Well the smog in Bangalore is pretty nasty, otherwise it is fine. I've been in countries with offensive smells, and this is not one of those.

Of course, I've not been in one of the over crowded busses or on a subway sort of system (where smells really come out).
